Pema Lingpa Lineage

Buddha Amitāyus, the Buddha of Deathless Longevity

This Deity Practice of Deathless Longevity was revealed by the tertön Pema Lingpa from the Lion-Faced Rock of Mintrö in the Southern Cliffs. It is the most supreme and secret longevity accomplishment practice of Guru Padmasambhava, the Second Buddha of Oḍḍiyāna.

The Deity of Deathless Longevity has one face, symbolizing that all phenomena are of one taste in suchness. His two arms symbolize skillful means and great compassion, and supreme wisdom and emptiness. His body is red in color. He sits in vajra posture, with both hands in the gesture of meditative equipoise, holding a longevity vase. His form is appearance yet empty.

If one receives this longevity empowerment, which carries the blessing power to ripen one’s being, and then practices accordingly, one may realize the direct manifestation of dharmatā and attain the accomplishment of deathless longevity.
